Creating a sense of chaos throughout the 70’s, the Sex Pistols are everything punk rock should be – all about image, extremely controversial and damn right offensive. Carefully crafting their image and messages for the the sake of art, the Sex Pistols had the nerve to be whoever the fuck they wanted to be. They didn’t care about the law or boundaries (both musically and politically) – they just made music – music that perfectly expressed punk. Fuelled by inventive guitar licks, powerful drums and dangerously thrilling bass riffs, the Sex Pistols stripped rock’s complexities to the bone. And attracted a massive fan base in the process.
It’s regarded as one of the most important and influential albums of rock music history. Screaming all things electrifying, it oozed power – leading you on a ride that was exhilarating, exciting and insanely intense. It was 1977 and it was the Sex Pistols’ Never Mind The Bollocks, and boy was it good. Better yet – it still is.
Laced with raw power and a bratty rebellious attitude, Never Mind The Bollocks managed to capture a perfect combination of writing and delivery. It had style, it had substance, and even after you stripped it all back, it still left you with an impeccable punk rock album. Conveying a punk rock spirit about it that just said ‘fuck you’ to anyone that didn’t understand it, the Sex Pistols created something that was so unique and so unthinking – it was always bound to have an everlasting influence.
