All Them Witches - Lightning At The Door

All Them Witches are a great American psychedelic stoner rock band from Nashville, Tennessee. Their music tends to be a mixture of fine low-tuned and fuzzy stoner rock, psychedelic rock and garage rock. While they have released several good albums, then their best album to date is probably ''Lightning At The Door''. An album that they released back in 2013 and which has been re-released on vinyl just earlier this year. This fine album is all about catchy stoner riffage with a psychedelic rock and a garage rock twist.

The first track on the album is titled ''Funeral For A Great Drunken Bird'' and it packs some fine low-tuned stoner basslines and riffage in a slightly bluesy psychedelic coating. The track is definitely a pretty transcendental one and highly addictive as well. The second track ''When God Comes Back'' offers some even more memorable stoner rock with a highly addictive drums section, while also reminding the Danish noise rock band Get Your Gun in its relatively simple riff heavyness. The third track packs some bluesy and murky garage rock with an astounding psychedelic rock guitar solo. The next two tracks again offer some rather catchy stoner rock riffs, while the sixth track ''Death Of Coyote Woman'' offers some meandering garage rock in a psych and stoner coating. The eight track ''Mountain'' again starts off slow only to move into some stoner riffage, while ''Romany Dagger (Remended) offers something completely different in its folky bluegrass ways. The final track however moves to familar territory once again and packs some pretty fine psychedelic rock.

All in all ''Lightning At The Door'' is one of the best stoner rock or psychedelic stoner rock releases of recent years and definitely offers some memorable bluesy stoner heavyness. The album also never gets boring and offers plenty of variety in a genre that has gotten relatively boring in the last half a decade or so.
