Colour Haze are a renowned and well-known German psychedelic rock/stoner rock band, who have released many notable albums in their own particular genre through the years. Their latest full-length album came out back in 2014 and is titled ''To The Highest Gods We Know''. The album tends to be a mixture of desert rock, stoner rock and psychedelic rock. This has of course been the case with all previous Colour Haze albums as well, as they have essentially become one of the most well-known and iconic bands within these genres.
The first track on this fine album is titled ''Circles'' and it packs a fine melodic yet heavy mixture of psych and stoner rock. The usual kind of cruising and flowing desert rock that has become synonymous to Colour Haze through the years. The second track follows on the same path, but perhaps tends to have a more interesting vocals part, while also maybe being less heavy in its stoner rock riffage. The third track ''Überall'' tends to flirt more with krautrock, as it packs some fast krautrockish drums and a similar bassline, only to then move into some really fine and fuzzy stoner heavyness in the end. All of which make it my favorite track on this particular album. The fourth track ''Call'' follows a pattern similar to the first two songs, and is not a particularly spectacular track for my taste, while the last track tends to be a nearly 12 minute long semi-acoustic half-bluegrass style song. This makes it a rather strange one for a Colour Haze album.
All in all the album is pretty good, but it also dwells in the well-known patterns of previous Colour Haze albums, thus not being something very original in this sense. However the album is definitely sufficient for anyone who is into Colour Haze or stoner and psych rock similar to this.
