U.S. Christmas - Eat The Low Dogs

U.S. Christmas is a pretty renowned American psychedelic rock band that mixes some post-rock infused atmospheric psychedelia with space rock and stoner rock, while also having some fine noise rock and even post-metal influences. The band also packs some very distinct eerie and haunting vocals together with some meandering ambient psychedelia in parts. While they have released a number of great albums throughout the years, then for me their best album is probably ''Eat The Low Dogs''. An album that they released back in 2007.

The rather slow first track ''In The Light of All Time'' starts off the distinct noisy atmospheric psychedelia of U.S. Christmas, while the second track ''The Scalphunters'' follows down the path of haunted psychedelic rock with some more faster space rock pace. The track packs some wonderous krautrockish space rock repetition in a somewhat post-rock kind of atmospheric coating. The third track ''Say Sister'' is again a more haunting slow psych track with some fine noise rock influences, thus being similar to ''Gallows Humor'', which is also my favorite track from this particular legendary album. ''The Light and Trails'' packs some truly mesmerizing noise rock influenced psychedelia as well, as do all the tracks on this almost perfect album. The album has basically everything you would expect from a great psychedelic rock album, and the mixing of different complimentary genres, as well as its haunting amtospheric nature expressed best in the eerie vocals only add to its greatness.

All in all ''Eat The Low Dogs'' remains as one of the best psychedelic rock albums I have ever heard, and it will definitely appeal to those who are into post-metal or post-rock as well, while the somewhat noisy psychedelic and noise rock influences in parts might appeal to those who are into the more noisy part of psychedelia as well.
