75 Dollar Bill are a pretty interesting instrumental psychedelic rock/drone/hypnotic psych band from Brooklyn, New York. While there are quite many usual psychedelic rock bands out there, then this particular American band goes on a different more experimental path. Maybe a droneish psych path reminding that of Earth, but with some strange folk influences in parts as well. The album title is also pretty weird, but seems to essentially point towards the repetitive essence of this particular band.
The first track on this album is titled ''Earth Saw'' and it runs for over 7 minutes. The first thing when I listened to this track was to think about Earth, as this track is pretty similar to the minimalistic drone of Earth, while also reminding bands like Goat in some sense. Whatever the case may be, this track is pretty awesome in its fine psychedelic repetition. The second track also reminds me of Goat and Earth, but with some weird folk and free jazz influences moving in at some point. Complimenting each other in this weird madness of a track. At some point the track feels like a mixture of Goat, Earth, bluegrass and humppa. The fourth track ''Cummins Falls'' is a pretty interesting one as well. Packing the same kind of vibe as the previous track, but in a somewhat more conventional psychedelic coating. The last track ''I'm not trying to wake up'' is perhaps my favorite track from this album, as it sounds like slow highly catchy repetitive psychdelia mixed with Fire! and some saxophone very much reminiscent of the cult Swedish noise rock band Brainbombs. A pretty interesting mixture to say the least.
All in all this album is definitely worth checking out, as it packs some very odd psychedelia and some truly fine hypnotic krautrock repetition.
