Jakob Skott came out with a new album ''All the Colours of the Dust'' earlier this year, and the new album packs some really fine psychedelic rock with krautrock and space rock influences. Anyone who is familiar with Causa Sui, knows that Jakob Skott is the drummer of this fine Danish psychedelic rock band, and that this is his solo project. As Causa Sui is one fine band, then you might expect this solo project to not disappoint as well.
The album offers five rather lengthy tracks that all offer some rather fascinating experimental psychedelia in a quite funky krautrock and a somewhat prog rock coating. The first track ''Age of Isotopes'' packs some fine krautrock infused experimental psych with plenty of variation, while the second track ''Face Peradam'' starts off in a sort of a catchy Goat'esque way, only to move towards some more prog infused psychedelia. A pretty awesome track indeed. ''The Variable'' starts off with some fine drumming and in a rather heavy psych manner, only to move to a more transcendental catchy psychedelic realm as the track moves to its second half. The fourth track ''Iron Nebula'' is on the other hand perhaps the most funky of the tracks on this fine album, although the last track also starts off in a pretty funky krautrock manner as well, only to move into a more ambient and more epic psych ending.
All in all this album is pretty awesome, as all the tracks offer a fair amount of variation, and a rather different approach, while still always retaining this distinct psychedelic and kraut structure. The best tracks on the album for me are the first 3 ones. All of which could be rated as one of the most interesting psych rock or krautrock tracks of this year. Anyway this album is definitely worth checking out.
