“Mooger Fooger,” another of the bands from the Macedonian alternative scene that I already introduced to the readers, released their new album last month. It’s called “Фузија” (Fusion), and it follows the same concept of their previous album “Продолжи да сонуваш” (Keep Dreaming) - suggestive songs, with melodies sung over the layered guitar sound, which is a trademark of the band. Like on the previous release, the group recorded the music with the help a vast number of musicians from the Macedonian underground scene which appear as guests on “Fusion”. The difference in this release is that one can feel a bigger influence by Goran Trajkovski, one of the leading figures of the Macedonian underground music scene in the 80’s and 90’s and a legend among the alternative audiences. Songs became darker, while the knobs on the effect pedals aren’t turned all the way up this time. There is a slightly bigger influence from the dark and post-punk music from the 80’s than from the psychedelic rock of the 60’s, which was more evident in the previous albums. But it still holds enough diversity to satisfy a broader audience - there’s even a hip-hop/crossover song on the album. Definitely a material worth listening to!
