Another Modern Rock Band? Really?

The Bohicas are rookies on British rock scene. Young, handsome, multi-ethnic band. They are armed with electric guitars, leather jackets and radiophonic songs. Debut called The Making sounds like a mature product. They would manage to leave even bigger impression If they wasn’t a déjà vu effect. The Bohicas sound like a typical modern rock band that we had a chance to listen many times in the past 15 years.

The album contains compact songs that never pass 4 minutes. Strong and intense rhythm section does not leave us a time to breathe, so we just have to whip are head back and forth, especially when we hear power accords in choruses. Groovy background, guitar’s explosions and lead singer’s vocal are making the band sound bold. They remind me of Kaiser Chiefs, although there is a certain Queens Of The Stone Age resemblance. Upside Down and Inside Out has the following line I’m on a stairway to heaven like a bat out of hell. So, If we are going to compare them with classics, they are closer to Buzzcocks then to Zeppelin or Meat Loaf.

Song themes are pretty much a rock clichés: girls, sex, love. Truth to be told, verses are very funny. Stand out track is definitely To Die For, but my personal favorite is Red Raw because of its dark tones.

The Making of is a solid debut that deserves your attention. Let’s see If they can keep it in the following years. If they become a little bit more innovative, I believe they will
