Flyleaf is an American rock band, formed in the Belton and Temple, Texas regions in 2002.The band has charted on mainstream rock, Christian pop and Christian metal genres. They performed around the United States in 2003 until releasing theirdebut album, “Flyleaf”, in 2005. The album went platinum after selling more than one million copies. The band won an online poll on Yahoo.com and was named Yahoo!'s Who's Next band of the month in March 2006 and they were named MTV's artist of the week on December 24, 2007. Flyleaf released their second album “Memento Mori” on November 10, 2009, which debuted and peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard charts. Flyleaf's third album New Horizons was released on October 30, 2012. Shortly before the album's release, lead vocalist Lacey Sturm announced her departure. Kristen May subsequently became the new lead vocalist.

It might be sad for the fans to know that the band’s line up has changed but the music thatw as created formerly would always stay in the fans’ hearts.

Their song “All Around Me” is I think the most passionate of all their songs. It is a kind of song that highlights Lacey’s angelic voice and the amazing play of guitars and drums. It is also a really feely song.

I know this is a Christian band, but I see more to this song than the everlasting presence ofGod and the band's devotion. When I listen to this song, I hear so many emotions, so many thoughts screaming between the lines.

The first thing I imagine, and I could be projecting my own feelings and experience into the meaning of this song, is the mourning of a lost companion. Except they are not entirely lost. Lacey feels him/her everywhere as if they're not actually gone because they promised to never leave her, and she is willing herself to believe they're still there with her, physically, rather than just in spirit. She longs to see them again, to feel them as more than just a presence.

The other thing I imagine is an ongoing battle with depression, and a desperate search for something/someone tangible as she attempts to prevent herself from falling even further. She knows she's still alive, so that's something, but she's still searching for something real. She can feel so much around her, but it's as if none of it is real, or no one can see her. In the acoustic version of this song, she says "I'm still alive," and I see this as a method of obtaining some help, someone to realize that she's still there.

Despite the many interpretations, this song would greatly lift you up whenever you are in a bad mood. It says “It’s OK. Be calm for now. Everything will be fine.”
