This trio, to me, is one of the baddest in the music industry. You know them when you notice the fire-engine red ’33 Ford coupe fly past the screen in the music video. The trio armed with their instruments, singing with that tough, raspy, scruffy sound. I loved their songs like “Legs” and “Sharp Dressed Man”. And with today’s popular beard culture, they definitely still are in style. ZZ Top has definitely delivered many awesome rock hits. Even today, I can still enjoy their awesome rock music style.
In recent music news, ZZ Top was scheduled for a performance at the Lone Star Events Center Amphitheater in Lubbock, TX. A few unlikely events had occurred, as bassist, Dusty Hill, was exiting the tour bus. Unfortunately, in doing so, Dusty Hill fell and dislocated his shoulder.
Hill was brought to a local hospital and as to seek treatment for his shoulder but it had seemed that his shoulder was going to determine the outcome for their upcoming performance. It was announced to the audience that the show would be cancelled and have to be rescheduled for May 29.
Furthermore, more ZZ Top scheduled performance dates had to be cancelled due to the injury that Dusty Hill had sustained. They had to postpone their performance at The Firelake Arena in Shawnee, OK and also their appearance at the 25th Anniversary of Chilifest 2016 in Snook, TX. Promoters for the Chilifest show were on the move to search for a replacement.
It was stated by Chilifest Inc. that they wished Dusty Hill for a speedy recovery and understood ZZ Top’s reason for canceling their appearance at the 25th Anniversary of Chilifest 2016. They expressed that the show must go on! Chilifest Inc. assured their attendees that for instances like these (though not usually needed), they had a back-up plan. Eventually, it was decided that ZZ Top's replacement was to be Gary Allan.
ZZ Top's next scheduled appearance is April 22 at the Beau Rivage Theatre in Biloxi, MS. We hope Dusty Hill's shoulder will be well-recovered and ready by then.
