One of the best debut rock albums of all times TOTO (1978)

I am not sure if it's a coincidence, but I get the feeling that every debut album of the great bands is a masterpiece and their identity of course! For example Rainbow("Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow"-1975), Ramones("Ramones"-1976) and for sure I will put Toto ("Toto"-1978) in this category! Their debut album "Toto" contains one of the greatest songs (in my opinion) in their career such as "Hold the Line, I'll Supply the Love", "Georgy Porgy" etc.

"Toto" is a legendary band from Los Angeles, California formed in 1977. They have released 17 albums and have sold over 40 million albums in total up to date(also, they won several Grammy Awards). There are a lot of rumors about their name, but the actual one is that the words "In Toto" (translated from Latin in English) means all-encompassing. Because everyone from the band played in many different bands and also different genres, they decided to take "Toto" as their band name.

The first single from the album is "Hold the Line". It's their debut single written by David Paich (band's keyboardist). The song has reached number 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart at that time. Even nowadays people recognize them from this song. The song has a beautiful harmony, and a dominant and vigorous riff. At the top of that, here comes the legendary voice of Bobby Kimball as a lead vocal of the track.

One of my favorite of this album is Georgy Porgy performed by Steve Lukather. Toto released the track as a single, reaching number 48 on Billboard Hot 100. The song has a groovy, ongoing rhythm causing a pleasant feeling, excellent solos and mindblowing backing vocals! It is a great song that will continue to live for a long time.

This album is a must hearing for all classic rock lovers. Every song is unique on the inside; you just need to dive into the music and enjoy it.

* One interesting fact about Toto is that the members of the band in the 1980s were prolific session musicians. Their work includes Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’. Altogether, the members have been recorded on over 5,000 albums, selling over 500,000,000 albums.
