Goat - World Music

Goat is a psychedelic rock band from Sweden, that gained its high reputation in the psychedelic rock circles with its great debut album World Music. An album that was released back in 2012, and immediately put this Swedish psych rock band on the map as one of the more unique bands in this particular genre. Now psychedelic rock has a huge huge number of bands out there, who are mostly pretty similar, and offer all the similar pretty generic outlets. Goat seems to have come up with something more unique though, as it mixes psychedelic rock, 70s rock, tribal rhythms and Eastern influences, together with some nice female vocals. The psychedelic catchy repetition that Goat offers is also quite highly transcendental in comparison to many bands who stand essentially still throughout their long jams.

One of the best tracks on World Music has to be undoubtedly the Eastern influenced nearly 8 minute long track Det Som Aldrig Förändras/Diarabi, which to me with its highly transcendental mix of Eastern influenced psych rock together with afrobeat mood sets out on a massive transcendental journey. Of course this is not the only near perfect track on this near perfect album, as tracks like Goatlord with its fine female vocals, or Goathead and Goatman all pack some really fine and highly distinct psych rock. One might say this Swedish band has in recent years become one of the worlds most well-known psychedelic rock bands, and that is highly deserved. As their debut album was great, and so was the 2014 album Commune.

If anyone hasn't really listened to much of psychedelic rock, then this particular album might be a very good starting point. It is highly catchy and memorable. Packs enough repetitive and warm basslines, fine fuzzy guitars and mindmelting jamming, with some fine African and Eastern influences. It is a highly addictive album, and that is why it is in so high regard as well.
