“Krematoriy” is a Russian rock band. It appeared in 1983 in Moscow. Their hit-song called “Trash wind” (originally “Мусорный ветер”) is well known not only among Russian speaking rock fans but many other people who listened to the radio in 90s. This song is tragic and beautiful. There are no wonders that it became a hit. It tells about bad ecology. It was created in 1988, the year of Chernobyl disaster. Here is the first verse and the refrain of the song, translated from Russian: “The wind is full of trash And black smoke comes from a pipe of a plant. Nature drops tears And Satan laughs. That all is because we liked to catch winds And to through stones. Smoke is in skies Smoke is on earth There are machines instead of humans The fish die in the dried-up river Stinking hit of the desert come.”

The band performs different music. Sometimes it is harder and sometimes it is softer. Also it is a kind of classic rock and not a heavy metal. Listening to their songs you can find the elements of the following genres: blues, rock, tango, waltz, rock-n-roll, etc. Beautiful violin or keyboard parts make their music very melodious.

Some of the song lyrics are serious and tragic, while some are humorous. Also many serious songs contain some comedy elements. Among the topics of the lyrics one can find: love, ecology, religion, philosophy, art, human society, human personalities, etc. Here is a sample translation of the humorous songs by “Krematoriy” (performed very lyrical): “We are all above 30 years old It’s long have passed since we were 30 years Some 20 years more And…” Also here is the other: “Women walks on the roads And fill the crossroads with themselves Some of them have got a permit Some of them have got nothing Some of them have got dildo Some of them have got “Mercedes And some of them have got a monster That is able to say: “I love you””
