“Orgia pravednykov” is a Russian rock band that appeared in 1999. It could be considered as a quite young band. Also it has already got lots and lots of fans among Russian speaking people. I suppose that their songs may be interesting to English speaking rock fans as well. I am going to support this thesis of mine with arguments further on.   The songs by “Orgia pravednykov” are created and performed using both acoustic and electric sections. Flute and acoustic guitar make the music melodic; drums, bass-guitar and electric-guitar make it powerful. Such great mixture begot a lot of wonderful and different songs. Listening to the music created by those guys you can find elements of very different styles: progressive rock, death metal, folk-rock, romance, baroque, etc. Musicians themselves call their style the total rock. The songs by this band are not alike to each other. They differ a lot. I think that it is great when the same people are able to create songs in different styles. It shows the manysidedness of their personalities. Also it is always interesting to hear a new song, because it is not the same to the previous one. The first time I heard an album by “Orgia pravednykov” I started dancing reflexively. You know, I am not a kind of a man who dance when he hear music. My movements were alike to the Indian tribal dancing. I was very uplifted and amazed.   The author of the band’s song lyrics is Sergey Kalugyn. His song lyrics are very well written. They are very poetic, full of literary devices (you know good poetry is more than just rhyming), vivid images and bright ideas. Beside all of the mentioned, most of them possess interesting storylines. Sure, if you do not know Russian language, you’d not understand what the song is about. Though the words sound good, cause they are well. Here is a translation of the first verse of the song called “Turkistan express” («Туркестанский экспресс»). “I left my home, learning how to observe the things I looked at my city and it was faint just like death Everything’s changed while I learned to read names: Some strange sky behind the strange roads in the alien place”
