Ella Mai-Change EP

It may seem that time is sometimes simply relative, but when it comes to specific "Time", from February 15th, the essense is much there. And Ella Mai sure made it count with big numbers. After that huge master stroke, the "10 Summers" Label signee decided to wrap up another one, in hope that Time did brought a really good "Change". For this "Change" she published on November 18th, Ella says that it`s all about that "90`s baby", as she`s a big fan of and that it is "about finding someone new, and knowing how to appreciate what he’s giving you in comparison to what you were dealing with". Will this relationship advice work for the listeners? Let`s reveal this enigma quick.

Ella Mai

5-track EP starts with soulful "Down", a heart-pleasing love warming letter a young London gal is sending to her special one. As expected, Ella brought her signature work upgraded to the latest version and simply played all the notes right. A mead to your ears from top to bottom, with the mention of just couple of words like:

"Wanna know if you're sure

Maybe I can be the cure

Got me caught up in my feelings, thinking

We should be a little more"

and then in the bridge:

"And it's crazy just might love you more than myself

But be careful don't play it ain't good for my health".

Ella And Dj Mustard

Mai really puts her hear out, opened it wide for her guy. Second single "Who Knew" breaks even more of that romance magic and a bit more brighter beat slowly rolls us off of the affectionate wheels. Ella wonders about this:

"I'm just trying to figure how you doing what you doing

How you turning to me only when I that I'm pursuing

All I'm trying to say is

Who knew?

That you ever will break through"

admiting:

"Got me feeling like I'm spinning

Cause you're so appealing

We ain't gotta conceal this

Then you got me all up on the ceiling

We can seal it

Tell me where you wanna steer it

Cause I'm down".

Ella Mai

This beginning of the second verse part is my favorite. R`n`Bass vibe combined with old school synths makes this cake so delicious. No. 3 reserved for Ella Mai`s album promo track "10,000 Hours" and with her mentor Dj Mustard on the beat is is simply undeniable to speak of anything else then perfectionism of work. Silky rhythm melts your feelings out while Mai counts them hours tick by tick while waiting for her man to call...

After the long count comes my personal jam, the most impressive track on the album, the R`n`Bass banger called "Lay Up". On this joint, Ella just rocked them bars with slick ride, vibing through them lyrics like a pro. The super toned beat by Mustard matched her swag perfectly. I liked everything about it, lyrics from first to the last letter, Ella`s vocal accents, instrumentation, I mean the whole thing. Wonderful job there! I`ll let the hook catch your curiosity:

"Let's take a trip up to the island and just lay up, lay up

A private flight up for the night gon' take us way up, way up

Just the two of us no one else invited

Baby jump right in

Let's take a trip up to the island and just lay up, lay up

Said baby you know I know how to take us way up, way up

Just the two of us no one else invited

Baby jump right in".

The last track "Found", brings the speechless feelings swallow, as it hits you right in the bottom with it`s soul-driven vision of love. The perfect ending and the most powerful emotional track on the album. My second best on the project, yet it is profoundly hard to pick and point out just those two. Even though this is a 5-track deed, it stands out better and higher out of any LP`s this year. And the best part about her music, is that Ella already announced her third EP coming in early 2017 after which her debut album will finally be ready for the late 2017. Peep and cop this 10/10 Ella Mai piece here and share the love. I leave you with the majesty of the "Found" devotion:

"In the madness of this worldI'm glad I found youWhen my heart don't seem to workIts you I turn toIt get hard it get hard out therePut your arms put your arms right here ohhhh you don't have to say a wordI'm glad I found youuuu oooo uuuuhI'm glad I found youuuu oooo uuuuhI'm glad I found"
