O'G3NE doesn't clown around

From the moment they stepped into the blind audition at Holland’s The Voice, two years ago, these three musically skilled sisters have been on their rise to the top. Their harmonies have been on fire from the moment they stepped onto the scene and, to anyone, it’s clear that this group has got the potential to achieve international success.

They went on to win The Voice in 2014 and have been seen performing everywhere around the country. After their initial chart success, they’ve been finding it hard to get their original songs to the charts, but their covers are causing many sparks on their own to keep the fire going.

Just a little over a week ago, they appeared on a TV show with their cover of Emeli Sandé’s “Clown”. Performing in front of their peers, they brought many people to tears with their on point harmonies and emotional performance. The video went viral immediately after the show aired.

The sisters’ voices sound so extremely alike, that normally speaking, it’s already difficult telling them apart. This similarity also benefits them when they get to their signature harmonizing.

In singing, we often speak of coloring. It’s when you adjust the sound of your voice to match someone else’s voice with the objective to have the two voices blend in together. It’s often used when you’re harmonizing, to make it all sound as a whole. These girls have don’t have that much adjusting to do, because their voices are all in the same, say, color range.

O’G3ne grew up in a musical family. The girls have been perfecting their craft since they were little. It shows both in skills as in professionalism.

Their performance with “Clown” put them back in the limelight and they were quick to follow it up with another unique showcase of what they can do. In their latest YouTube upload, they show exactly how much they can make their three voices sound as one, using a technique they labeled “echoing”.

Wow.
