Woman’s Intellect and Confidence Against the Gloom

Rosie Lowe released her newest song, “Woman”, in January 2016 that led the way to her debut album Control in February 2016. Discovering her in March, and now closer to April, I only wished I heard her music sooner!  Nevertheless, I decided to review her song “Woman”.  I do so, because I believe she is another rising star that brings the skills of singing and songwriting to a whole different level especially within the genre of r&b.

Rosie Lowe’s song “Woman” has a bit of melancholy flava to it but bites back in a fight for confidence and uplifting a low self-esteem.  It’s about women especially in today’s world and the continuous fight for equality.  She states that even though some may think everything is fine, she can notice the little lingering of signs that still prove that they are not.  More so, women still utilize the physical attributes to rise to what they believe would reach an equal stature.

The song points out the thought that women may feel things are equal in society and do this in the wrong way, through physical appearance.  The struggle for women’s intellectual equality is still a shared struggle among women and it’s up to them to notice it or not and to change it the “right” or “better” way.  Rosie Lowe’s message does just that, she tells other women that she “hears” them and knows their struggle.

It’s songs like these that make me believe the artist who created it reveals their potential to rise to fame.  When artists believe in something, they create art out of it.  This song delivers the feel that she wants to express to her listeners.  Furthermore, the instrumentals definitely make it a song that you will surely listen to.  I believe it’s meant to.  It’s a message that needs to be heard by the women out there that need it in a society that still needs change.
