K Michelle says: K’s Over It!

OMG! How much I love this track. K Michelle dropped the audio for “Not A Little Bit” on YouTube, about 6 days ago, and I’ve been playing it a few times a day since. It hasn’t happened in a while that I fell in love with a track so heavily, but it’s easy to get into and it probably has a lot to with where I am right now.

If you’ve been following my blogs on Kurrent Music, then you may remember me mentioning someone about some heartbreak entering my life around the holidays and this track, emotionally, is where I’d like to end up. Today, rather than tomorrow, thank you very much.

K Michelle has had her share of heartbreak and it’s been often mentioned that she incorporates that into her own music. She’s got herself a bit of a Taylor Swift reputation there, where if you dated her, she’ll probably end up singing about you.

Not that men seemed to be scared by that at all, because when I tried to find some information on K Michelle for this blog, I watched a few interviews.  I was hoping to tell you some interesting stuff about her as an artist, but that’s when I discovered that, at least on YouTube, all she talks about are her relationships or rumors about relationships. No wonder, this girl was on a reality show!

But, putting that aside, K Michelle is one of those names that pops up on my social media timelines many times. I know she’s been around for ages. I know about her plastic surgeries and her fight with Tamar Braxton, but somehow I still managed to miss her music mostly, until I recently heard she was working with Sevyn Streeter for her new material. Now, I’ve been so impressed by Sevyn Streeter for years, that I had to start paying attention of course!

And I’m glad I did, ‘cos I wouldn’t have wanted to miss this. As I said, the song is easy to get into and brings you classic vocal melodies in the chorus. Her delivery is divine, going from sounding a little bitter sweet in the chorus, but determined and strong in the bridge and at the end.

You know how I love lyrics and songs that tell stories. I think this song is put together incredibly well, especially due to the vocal arrangements. She´s telling the story, but you can also hear responses in the background vocals. I love little things like that, which is probably why I love R&B so much, because it gives you something to discover when you listen to song as often as I have done, so far.

What else can I say? I just highly recommend this track if you are into R&B. But hey, don’t take my word for it. Don’t do that not a little bit. Just listen and let K Michelle convince you.
