When Your Life is Falling Apart, Listen to Jason Mraz

I found this song last year when my teacher recommended it to me. I found out I had anxiety, I was so stressed with school and my personal life. I couldn’t handle having problems with two things at once. I could barely keep myself standing on my own feet. Perhaps you could call this, the song that saved my life.

The beat is lively and is telling you to lighten up along with it. Whenever I felt I was going to cry, I put on my earphones and just listened to this song. But it’s more than just the harmony and Jason Mraz’s ever charming voice, it was the lyrics that were speaking to me. You could say the title is pretty literal with this song.

It starts with the first line that explains the whole song: “There are three things I do when my life falls apart.”

The whole song basically tells us what we should do to get through that hurdle. There are days when you just wake up and feel so heavy that you just want to give up on life. I feel like this song is exactly what everyone going through that needs.

“Number one I cry my eyes out and dry up my heart.” It’s scientifically proven that letting it all out first is better than keeping it inside. It can be worse for your mental and physical being to keep emotions bottled up. Once you’re done crying you’ll be refreshed and have a better outlook in life.

“Oh, the second thing I do is I close both of my eyes and say my thank-yous to each and every moment of my life.”  After all that crying why not reassess your life and be thankful for the good things. No one’s life is actually that bad, it’s just the way you view it.

And lastly, “The third thing that I do now when my world caves in, is I pause, I take a breath, and bow and I let that chapter end.” Humans have a mentality of not letting go of the past. In order to be happier, you have to let go of what is hurting you.

And this is what Jason Mraz is telling us. I highly recommend this song for people who need a shoulder to cry on. Let this article be a reminder of the power of music.
