Bob Marley inspired a lot of people (and me as well). He is a real legend. His songs are full of peace and wisdom. He shared it with the world. It was his mission. Let us not forget about it. Let us not be fooled and filled with so fashionable hatred, haughtiness and misanthropy! Do not miss your soul in the vanity and passions of the modern world! Always remember you roots! All we are people of the Earth. Let’s live in peace. Marley is well known all around the world. Some people may do not like to listen to reggae music… they even may do not know what the word “reggae” means, but they surely have heard the name of Bob Marley and several of his songs.
It is wrong to think that Rastafarians do not care about anything and anyone, and all they do is smoking ganja. Real Rasta people do not “wear pink glasses”. They are not goops. Modern pop culture shows an image of a Rasta man who smoke and eat and do not give any shit, but it is not so. A lot of people think that Rasta people are always happy whatever is going on and they are far from the sensible view on things. It is not so. Do not mix up peaceful state of mind with the vainglory. Rastafarian religion is a branch of Christianity. If Bob Marley was a self-indulged narcissist who do not care about others, his band would not been called “The Wailers”, and he wouldn’t created so many good wise lyrics. “Sun is shining” is not the only one song by Marley. Not all of his songs are sunny and funny. “All I ever had are songs of freedom”, - has sung Bob. It is much more than heavy golden chains of modern egotistic hip-hoppers.
The other sad thing is the following. Lots of pop and club performers make covers or just have stolen some parts of songs or beats of songs by Bob Marley and use them in their (usually awful) compositions. These parodies cast a slur on the songs by Marley. Some people do not like trendy things and trendy musicians. That’s why some of them may dislike Bob even while they have not listened to any of his songs. Also Bob Marley is not trendy. When you are popular for more than 25 years, that means that you are not trendy – that means that you are the Great one.
Listening to the reggae music by Bob Marley is the great way to take a rest and give up all negative thoughts. This music is really calming. It is soft, light and quite melodious. Of course one of the special features is the rhythm. These songs may play on the background while you are doing some things or even talking to someone, either you may lie down on the sofa close your eyes and listen to them attentively though relaxed. It is the universal music. Bob Marley is respected by rockers as well as by rappers (sorry for the old terms but such a division still do exists).
