With so many playlists, new releases and artists coming out, it's hard to find music that will invoke that feeling many artists chase after; that inexplicable feeling a great song can give you, that makes you press "save" rather than skip through the playlist.
Leah Kate, an independent Pop artist based out of NYC via LA is on a quest to stand out in the over-saturated pop market and make her mark. Her first single, "I See You" is a pop-centric track that explores Flume-like synths, hard hitting drums, and even tropical dance-hall elements underlying her knack for singable hooks. Lyrically, the song reads much like a night out in either of Leah's home cities; "moving to the rhythm now, going up and down, I see you buy another round, I know you want this now." She's a great lyricist, and perhaps more importantly, has a great talent for putting emotion behind her voice -- a quality that's not easy to find these days with the rise of production software and the ease of self-uploading and distributing tracks.
Though independent, Leah Kate's "I See You" is a very strong debut single. You couldn't guess it was her first single -- so pop it onto your summer playlists, and have another round while dancing the night away.
