Okay Liam Payne's newest track 'Strip That Down' sounds more like a list of things Payne wants to be known for, otherwise than being a member of One Direction. Which Payne openly admits in his recent release. We knew Payne would go for a more Hip Hop/R&B influenced album, even stated early this week that Harry Styles type of music isn't quite his thing. Although each One Direction member is releasing their own music and honestly it's quite fantastic to see each young man's particular stance in his musical roots.
'Strip That Down' seems to be the one track dedicating Payne's true self. Not only is Payne tired of people (mainly fans) seeing this singer in a former way but permanently. Not only has Payne become a father since his boy band days but now intends to have a successful R&B career. 'Strip That Down' is considerably older, something an artist would write who has experienced a bit of life on a high scale. Even more so, Payne talks about wanting to live a little "rowdy" for some time without thinking twice about it. Now, 'Strip That Down' does seem to be aimed at a particular woman (probably Payne's wonderful love Cheryl Cole) or otherwise Payne has some explaining to do.
Nonetheless 'Strip That Down' brings a club beat full of bass hits waiting to drop. Easily 'Strip That Down' is clever in its use of rhythmic lyrics that are easily remembered and flow effortlessly. However, we would like to see Payne take a few risks (no doubt this is one area) but vocally. Maybe a rap part or fully embrace a type of Justin Timberlake (come on you were all thinking it) track where Payne leaves an impression. Don't get me wrong 'Strip That Down' leaves an impression but there is way more Payne can offer, so when will it happen?
