Serving up a little something, something

Katy Perry’s new song “Bon Appetit” has caught my attention from the first time I heard it. The first time I heard it, I found it to be refreshing and slightly experimental. It stood out from the rest, but now, with the video being evenly refreshing and slightly odd, I love the track even more.

Katy is not the one to back away from a little bit of a risk nor from a little bit of crazy. It’s the thing we like her for, though I’m not really sure about what the press is thinking about her.

For the first time in her career, I’ve seen the American press trying to rain on her parade. They were pointing out poorer record sales and bad choices of collaborations, including the one with rapper Migos on “Bon Appetit”.

Look, I don’t know what they are on about. I think “Chained to the Rhythm” and “Bon Appetit” are the best tracks I’ve heard from her in a while and the videos for those songs were both very creative. Both songs caught my attention mainly due to the fact that they were a little unpredictable the first time I heard them. I wasn’t able to pick up the lyrics of “Chained To The Rhythm” right away and be able to sing along with the chorus at the end of the song. “Bon Appetit”’s chorus is a lot easier.

The “Bon Appetit” video turns Katy into a piece of meat. She’s getting tenderized, marinated, cooked and served. All, but eaten. And all, while she’s looking good enough to eat though. It’s given her all the opportunity to experiment with various looks. I’m so happy her sugar coated Teenage Dream-period is over. I never liked the pink and the blue wigs, but I really like all the looks she’s having recently.

As much as the video and the song title may suggest that it’s about food, you know it’s not and so, the video is packed with as many sexy shots as the song has lyrics in double talk.

The video is definitely a concept I had not seen before. Other than on the Muppets, I guess. With singing food in their Swedisch Chef sketched. LOL.

I can’t wait to see what this song will do, because I hope it’ll be another smash for her. I love this song and think she did a “bon” job.
