Full of Pop hooks, 1980's sonic rhythm and a need for sexual speed? Yes, Ansel Elgort known mainly for his acting ability than his new musical career has dropped a new music video for Thief. For the most part, this Pop EDM take on a song gives Elgort a new prowl ground. While the music video for Thief reminds of a type of an alternate reality based track, resembling the film Risky Business, at points, it is hard to ignore Elgort's slight pitched vocals.
Elgort is a bad boy and knows it. That's great, especially since Elgort has played sweet, endearing characters on screen mostly.
Thief plays out in a sort of 80's noir section of life that could easily come off as cheesy. However, to give Elgort any credit, the music video was done beautifully and showcases how great of an actor Elgort can be. Musically well, musicians or in this case a singer grows with time. Elgort could fairly well become a big name as part of the music industry and solely just because of his music, not his acting career. Whether the Purple Rain route is in his future remains to be seen. Although that would be something to see nowadays.
Elgort needs a bit of vocal practice to catch on that song chorus, strengthening vocal work would most likely be the best bet. The pitch breaking can be heard on the final mastering, which shows raw ability yet work that will come along the more Elgort continues to make music.
Honestly, these suggestions should be taken as so, suggestions. Because for the most part when Elgort started off the song it has a solid sound. We all can't hit those chorus' that require our every breath. However, one can work up to that bit to fully express what one wishes to do. Elgort you have an idea just craft and cut exactly what should be polished.
