Do you remember the time when Kaiser Chiefs were still a good band that kicked ass with their debut. At that time, it seemed that bands such as The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, etc. have earned a strong competitor that could spoil many career plans.
The time has shown that Kaiser Chiefs are vacant artists who managed to come up with one and a half solid record in their discography. Stay Together is already their sixth album. The real question is where is the problem? Where is the band who pulled off massive hits as I Predict Riot, Everyday I Love You Less and Less, and Ruby? Creativity is a clumsy talent, and once you get big, you should have the inner strength to maintain your creative source.
It is clear that Kaiser Chiefs did not have a proper maintenance strategy. After the first album and the hit single Ruby, they have started losing their shit in the tundra of synth music not knowing how to utilize it for their sake. The amalgam of Britpop and synths seemed like a winner combination, but If it was that easy to create a good music, everyone would be superstars.
It is a bit of a paradox that the frontmen Ricky was a judge in The Voice. Still, when we observe that the band was hitting the rock bottom at the moment, the motive behind the desperate move becomes evident.
Irony of seeing Ricky teaching someone how to sing, as he was never a great vocalist, is probably a result of British humor. I mean, the guy is known for his voice cracking up on stage.
Anyhow, the new album shows that Kaiser Chiefs don’t know what to do with themselves. From a band with a great potential to the caricature that releases pop-dance numbers that are supposed to be appreciated by The Voice audience.
Stay Together is hard album to listen to. There is not a single clear melody. Not even production can save the horror of cacophony. The only comparison I could come up with is the music by Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber. Additionally, the music of these teen stars is more mellifluous.
The boys are hungry for more fame, and they concluded that pop-dance is the best selling music nowadays. But, dude, it’s not cool. The introduction of the track Press Rewind says it all
Pop music, this is pop music
We are writing a recording of pop music
This is pop music This is pop music
We are writing a recording of pop music'
I would not comment on other song. They don’t deserve any commentary. This is probably the most disappointing album I have ever reviewed.
