Sinead Harnett will immediately grab your attention with her soulish voice and a look that reminds you a lot of Jessie J. Her latest single, “Rather Be With You”, is by far one of my favorite new songs. It’s fresh and the heavy basses are something that will always catch my attention when used correctly. :)

She’s been experimental in her music for years and, therefore, could leave you the impression that she’s restless. Musically, she seems to brush shoulders with R&B, UK dance music (like garage) and, vocally, with a little bit of jazz and neo-soul. It’s this combination that gives her an edge that’s so different from anyone else out there right now, but it also makes her sound exactly like what you would expect from a pop star today.

Needless to say, she hasn’t entered the scene unnoticed. Even though she’s still considered an upcoming artist, she already has done numerous collaborations with established artists, which many of us can only dream of. Artists like Janet Jackson and Rudimental, just to mention a few.

I’m hoping that “Rather Be With You” will introduce her to an even larger audience and lead her to the success I think she’s capable of achieving. Luckily, she does reach many people on YouTube, so I'm sure I'm not alone in giving he a little push.

The song is slow and laid-back, which is pretty much her signature sound, but gives hints to dance music nevertheless. Her collaborations are usually a little more high energy, but her own songs are a little more like this.

When I first researched her, I was surprised to find out she was actually trained as an actress and I thought that singing was just something that came her way, by accident. But let me correct you from thinking the same: She’s been doing this all her life and she’s managed to get connected to the right people. Even while finishing her studies, she made her debut as a singer with Disclosure. This was not all that long ago. Her success is growing steadily in the last few years. She’s been releasing a few EPs of her own and her music videos are attracting many views on YouTube, as mentioned before. Already signed to a major label, it really looks like she could be a big star in the making.

Above all, though, her music is really good. It mixes all these styles in an effortless way. You can play her tracks anytime, anywhere.
