Dreaming of Hiding in the Woods With Saavan

"Hide is the dream of a night in the woods. Walking without trying to find our way." This is how the group Saavan explain their newest single 'Hide'. Upon the first listening simplistic beat melodies become present, loosely translating a night in the woods. I want to say that the track is almost teenage wanderment at the very best. I'll even up that vantage point to young adult, lost and over analyzing a Dream Pop beat.

'Hide' runs pass the four minute mark without hesitating or causing any form of chaos. There is no big production sequence or number, Saavan have lied upon a smooth vessel with this recent release. On Saavan's Facebook page they have grabbed the attention of a 1,000 plus fans, however that is not including the individuals who scout out SoundCloud. Saavan over the course of a few weeks and since the relase of their album 'Khamsin & LeMarquis' seem to be gaining ground. As the days pass by more and more people have mentioned Saavan in passing and seem to be hypnotized or transformed by the music.

Although the first genre term to be pinned to Saavan is "dreampop" I can't help but wonder about the underlying influences or action taken to curate such a song. Even though the original story about how the song came to be is technically a lyric in the track. Saavan had stumbled into the woods, drinking and out of nowhere crafted that remarkable night into 'Hide'. However, one wonders if that is the entire story... at least for the intended route 'Hide' takes the listener on.

With little to no information about the group (at least to my knowledge) this gratifying mystery is pleasant. Without any disturbing propositions 'Hide' transports and examines a singular moment in life to the finite degree. It sounds as if Saavan are questioning existence while traveling through a wooded forest or asking the impending question "what if".

With little build up throughout the entire track Saavan grace unusual waters by playing with the stillness given by mother nature. Once you've tracked the male and female vocals, Saavan offer a equaled measure of vulnerability and sustaining mystery.
