Jessie J promises new music

It took a while, but last weekend, Grease: Live made it to TV here in Europe. The live broadcasted musical premiered in the States earlier this year and featured stars like Carly Rae Jepsen, DNCE, Boyz II Men. It’s an impressive and entertaining version of the movie, but it has definitely brought me a new found respect for Jessie J.

Jessie J, pretty much, opened the musical event with her version of “Grease Is The Word”. While walking, she delivered a vocal performance that was on point. I know that she said that she was British best female vocalist, but I was a bit wary about that. However, I now get her point.

I actually don’t remember what her last single was. I think the last thing I heard from her was a cover of a Disney song, which was released last year around Christmas. Mostly, she’s been a judge on The Voice UK and Australia for a while and side gigs like that are no part time jobs, apparently. Every artist who judges is usually unable to keep the rest of their usual tasks going, such as recording new music, touring, etc.

So, now that Jessie J has officially confirmed she won’t be judging anymore, she’s spreading more words besides “Grease”. Words like “new album” and “new tour”. Yep, she’s shifting her focus back to being the pop star herself and I, now, can’t wait to hear what she’ll come up with. I would expect her to stick between dance and R&B.

First up, though, is the latest release of the Ice Age movie series. Earlier this month, Collision Course, was released and it features Jessie J as the character Brooke. I think her promotion for the movie must be coming to an end by now and she can start writing her new material.
