Ariana Is Dangerously Contagious

Ariana is a little girl with four-octave range, and that is her strongest weapon. With the great intonation and interpretation, it was just a matter of time when she would score a solid collection of songs. The missing collection was found on her third album.

This did not happen over the night since Ariana aspired to pave her way ever since her debut Yours Truly. As a child of Broadway, it was never a problem for Ariana to switch roles from track to track, but it also helped her to recognize what suits her best. Her sophomore album was a departure from her debut as she found her core in the contemporary pop. On her latest effort, I believe she has found what she was looking for – a massive hit album.

Albeit the production and vocal interpretation are on point, Dangerous Woman also flourishes because of the impeccable guestlist. Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and The Future are all at the top of their games and having them all on a record includes a certain risk of losing a part of the fanbase. The risk paid off.

Right before Ariana swims into the ocean of bangers that make the album worth its name, the young singer has the need to remind us where does she come from. Moonlight is a magnificent reverie filled with violins that serves as an intro and counterattack to what’s coming next. The title track is one of the best tracks on the album. Stellar guitar riff and intricate arrangement make the first single an exquisite album representative. Twice As Nice produced the easy summer electro tune Be Alright, while Into You stands as the album’s biggest future hit – an outstanding dubstep club banger.

The specific quality of the album is that it is the set of different genres that sound good as a whole. Diversity makes it stronger and more interesting. So, after two electro tracks comes reggae pearl titled Side to Side followed by an obscure sensual ballade that features Lil Wayne’s murmur in the verse. Greedy is the funkiest song of the record that pumps up your heartbeat. Leave Me Lonely features legendary Macy Gray but it fails to reach outside the pathetic-ballade-box.

The second half of the album falls a little bit flat, but it all reimburses with Everyday, a track that features rapper Future.

Long story short: dangerously contagious.
