Joe Jonas, a former member of the brother band, “Jonas Brothers” which was a big hit back then, is back with a new band (DNCE). Joe Jonas was giving the whole band thing another go with his pals rather than his bros this time around and I think it is a very important decision to make if you are an artist and striving to survive in the music world. I’m sure a lot of fans have missed seeing and listening to his voice and the effect he has being in a band.

Well, by now you've probably heard DNCE's debut single, 'Cake by the Ocean', and wondered what the hell it’s about bringing food near the beach, sandwiches and other crisps might be okay but who eats cake by the ocean? Were the words used in the lyrics just for fun and did not mean anything, to just confuse the listeners despite the ear fun they are having?

Well according to Joe, apparently not.MTV News recently caught up with the band - JinJoo Lee on guitar, Jack Lawless on drums, and Cole Whittle on bass   — to chat about their new upcoming projects and find out what “cake by the ocean” really means and Joe and the band decided to reveal the real meaning behind the title.

"Working on the record, these Swedish producers that we were working with kept confusing 'sex on the beach' with 'cake by the ocean'" Joe-Jo spilled to MTV, "Then, it became this kind of lyrically wacky song, and it kind of embodies the band.”

Well, they are definitely right about the song’s effect on people. It's funky, it's fresh, I think it's something that people can dance to.

If you're like me and just listened and didn't really give the lyrics a “real” listen, here's the sweet chorus:

Talk to me, baby

I'm going to miss this sweet craving, whoa-oh

Let's lose our minds and go f*cking crazy

I-I-I-I-I-I keep on hoping we'll eat cake by the ocean

Walk for me, baby

I'll be Didd and you'll be Naomi, whoa-oh

Let's lose our minds and go f*cking crazy

I-I-I-I-I-I keep on hoping we'll eat cake by the ocean

See? Definitely not talking about chowing down on pastries by the sea.

If you haven’t exhausted the replay button on DNCE’s debut single “Cake By The Ocean,”

do it now. Taste the cake the band has baked for you!
