I wanted to dedicate this blog for the real "Prince" of the Music in this World. The legendary artist "Prince" (since the 70s) became a world-class icon musician with a significant influence, leaving his marks on the humanity and its music. His music (he experimented with a lot of genres: pop, funk, jazz, blues, rock hip hop, even electronic) is a significant treasure. In his 35 years career, Prince published 39 solo albums; he won an Oscar for "Purple Rain"; 7 Grammy Awards and a Golden Globe. It is not an accident that he sold more than 100 million copies all over the world!
Prince Roger Nelson was born in 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In his very early childhood, he showed interest and curiosity in Music and just at the age of 7 he wrote his first song.
Prince released his first album ("For You") in 1978, but the one that pushed him forward to great success is his second album "Prince," especially the singles "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?", "Sexy Dancer" and "I Wanna Be Your Lover." He became an international name and icon in 1982 after releasing his album "1999".
My favourite tracks are "Let's Go Crazy","Purple Rain", "Kiss.", "I Hate U", etc... I would especially recommend "What the Fuss" by Stevie Wonder in 2005 (The comeback of the great Stevie) where Prince is nailing the guitar!
Prince said: "Music is music, ultimately. If it makes you feel good, cool."
Besides his musical talent and gift, Prince was an intelligent and intuitive man who did not save his words for himself. Instead, he shared his thoughts and pearls of wisdom. Here are my favourite ones:
-"The most important thing is to be true to yourself, but I also like danger. That's what's missing from pop music today. There's no excitement or mystery.";
-"Yeah, everybody's got a bomb, we could all die any day. But before I'll let that happen, I'll dance my life away.";
- "Too much freedom can lead to the soul's decay.";
-"The key to longevity is to learn every aspect of music that you can.".
I will remember Prince for his eccentric appearance and his wild energy that he brings every time he is on stage. His unique way of mixing genres. Prince left such a rich music legacy behind him that will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace legend.
