Daya Defines Confident and Classy

Daya is definitely a serious woman who knows just how independent she is and will continue to be in her “Sit Still Look Pretty” song. It’s good to know and hear that a woman with her singing talent is tearing down the regular and usual image of how “sex sells”, looks over personality, or riches over potential is very often these days the thing to “look up” to.  In some ways, it makes you wonder if society has really changed so much to downgrade its image.  Classy and conservative seems long gone as overly sexy, sleazy, and flashing some skin is what’s supposedly what’s “in”.

When I say talented, Daya is not only an American singer and songwriter but a multi-instrumentalist as well.  Her lessons began on the piano at an early age of 3 and she eventually went into playing jazz piano by the age of 11.  In addition to that, she also already knew how to play the guitar, ukulele, saxophone, and flute.  You have to imagine, while many of us were just playing in the neighborhood with childhood friends, she was already on her way to honing her skills in music.  This is similar to many other well-known musical artists that also started as children and grew well within the music industry.

In August 2015, Daya made her television debut as she performed “Hide Away”.  In September 2015, she then released her EP, Daya.  It offered 6 songs and included her song “Hide Away”.  Her EP went on to hit success on Billboard charts.  The EP debut at #161 on the Billboard 200 and “Hide Away” was pushed to #40 on the Billboard Pop Songs.

Daya’s “Sit Still Look Pretty” is expected to be another successful hit.  As stated earlier, it aims at the issue of today’s image of women or popular practice of women nowadays.  It smacks the fact that women use their physical attraction to gain what they think or believe what they need and want.  In most cases, this could be the attention of a man.  But not for Daya, she says she isn’t the type to just sit there and look pretty to gain the attention of some man or referred to as a “boy” because they probably will just “play” with those type of superficial girls anyway.

Daya presses forward in being an example that a woman can be independent and represent something more classy and respected through the beauty of her own self, independence, self-reliance, and intellect.  Furthermore, if a man can’t appreciate those characteristics in a woman then better to do without that type of man.  No, she won’t just “Sit Still Look Pretty”.  She obviously has way more worth than that.

Here is Daya’s song, “Sit Still Look Pretty”:
