Once a photograph of Father John Misty and Lana Del Rey was released, showing that the two would be starring in the music video together for 'Freak'...the music video not only captured exactly what we would all suspect but upped the ante to another level. Father John Misty acts as a supposed cult leader that is entirely reminisce of the late 60's and 70's where Charles Manson had a farm called Spahn Ranch. We all know that Lana Del Rey is one for the darker appearences of what truly is happening. But each time a music video comes out, Lana simply out does the one before. Where the line "Baby, come to California where you can be a freak." Funny enough that is very much a truth that many live by, however it may not be to this extent of taking LSD in the hills...but then again it is California.
Even well after the song has ended the music video continues on, showing Lana floating along in the water; after what looks like some sort of baptism performed by Father John Misty. Suddenly after the silence the classical piece Clair de Lune comes on which was originally performed by Claude Debussy. Lana then is seen holding hands with another female happily lingering in the water. Eventually many others join this joyous reunion...maybe in honor of all the women that had fallen victim to various cult leaders...it's hard to tell. Then again this is Lana Del Rey who without saying anything makes a statement and gives us a beautifully shot video in the process. We would expect nothing less.
