Yes, we often say we are all human beings and we are all the same, but in this world there are people born with a shining star and with a life purpose. I call them “hope and inspiration for humanity”. In the top 3 phenomena of the Popular music (as a term, not genre) I would definitely put the name Michael Jackson in there. We should all be thankful for what this man left behind himself. I have chosen to write a blog for “Thriller” the best-selling album of all time with sold more than 65 million copies worldwide.

This is Jackson’s 6th studio album and it was released on November 30, 1982. The album won 8 Grammys. For this album Michael Jackson worked with the producer Quincy Jones. They together created an African American blend–based pop music that was targeted for the mainstream market. The tracks contained different genres of music - R&B,pop, funk and even rock. Thriller is not a concept album, it is an album from hit singles. From the nine tracks on the album, four of them were written by Jackson (including Beat It and Billie Jean) and only two of them were not released as singles. Those are “Baby Be Mine” and “The Lady in My Life”.

The first single that has been released is “The girl is mine”, which is a vocal duet between Michael Jackson and ex-Beatle Paul McCartney, arguing for that one girl. I think it is also clear that “The Girl Is Mine” (and “Beat It” – where Eddie Van Halen played the solo guitar part) is being made to attract more of the white audience.

In May 1983 Jackson appeared on the television Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever and he did what he came to be known as his “moonwalk” dance while the performance for “Billie Jean”. There is no question that the performance was a sensation and it doubled the popularity of the album. By this time, the videos for Thriller songs that Jackson had made were being shown regularly on MTV. With his videos, he also helped on MTV itself, he boosted the power and prestige. With his amazing video clips for "Billie Jean", "Beat It" and "Thriller" – Michael Jackson helped break down the racial barriers at MTV.

Can you imagine, he did all this on just 25 years of age? Michael Jackson was not only a singer not even just an artist, he was a showman from another planet with a purpose to bring the music on a higher level and most important to inspire all of us!
