The Horrors previous album Luminous released in May of 2014. Fast forward to 2017 where the band's fifth album titled V is due to be released in September of 2017. The only sneak peak their fans have been given is the first single Machine.

The track holds a steadfast hand to the industrial side of music. The Horrors are no strangers to experimenting with their sound. So it should not be any shock that they have indeed found another avenue to drive towards. This in part shows another aspect of the band's ability to construct. Composing an independent sound from their previous albums.   Many are stating that the album 'V' will be the connecting album to 'Strange House' and 'Primary Colours'. Yet, I feel that 'V' will ultimately stand on its own. Like 'Strange House', 'Primary Colours', 'Skying', and 'Luminous' did when they premiered. I don't know if The Horrors have ever been about the idea of a concept album. More so the band function as a reinvention upon each album release. Pushing themselves to the outer bounds of possibility.

Machine has accounted the clever tool of actually sounding mechanical. As if, the band hasn't already challenged the strains of constructed instruments. This is shown throughout the albums 'Skying' and 'Luminous'. Where various effect pedals were created and built rather than bought. But, Machine actually sounds like mechanical components pressing against one another.Clearly, 'V' will put The Horrors back into a spotlight.

The last two years have been quiet when it comes to organic songs. However, The Horrors never claimed to be the stand alone band who question such songwriting morals. Yet, the band indicates the right to challenge the current state of music. I'm not saying that there is not good music playing about. I"m simply saying no one is taking it further than the traditional, intro, verse, bridge, verse, and outro.
