Carpool Karaoke is an on-going segment in The Late Late Show with James Corden. It usually starts off with James Corden trying to get to work and looking for someone to help him in the traffic. An artist then comes along and they sing that artist’s songs as they drive around Los Angeles. There are some times that they go farther than Los Angeles, like the time former first lady Michelle Obama was featured in the segment and they drove around the White House or when Chris Martin was the guest and he had James take him to the Super Bowl he was going to perform in.
It may seem simple, but that’s exactly the joy of it! James Corden mentioned that there was something fun about seeing artists sing their own songs in an ordinary situation, hence, in traffic.
Sometimes they get out of the car and do some crazy stuff. James Corden went shopping with Justin Bieber to try out his style, he was also being taught by Jason Derulo how to dance in the gas station and they rode someone else’s car, and many many more different scenarios!
The segment currently has 30 videos already and has featured artists from Mariah Carey, Bruno Mars, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Stevie Wonder, etc.
