You may remember her as a child actress in a particular movie back in the 1990s. She starred as Curly Sue in the 1991 comedy movie, Curly Sue. She was the cute little girl with the big eyes and innocent smile. Her cheeks were the kind you wanted to pinch, that’s if you didn’t get any attitude trying. Along with her cute appearance, was a personality that shined like a star. Alisan Porter had a voice that displayed both strength in pitch and diversity in control. Even before her child actress debut, she was already pursuing a career in singing when she was discovered on Star Search at a very young age.
Just like many child actresses, they come and go. When they go, we wonder what ever happened to them. Some have gone on to college, started a new profession, went into business, or even just decided to concentrate on raising a family. Alisan Porter has also moved on and as stated recently, that acting was not her thing. Although acting was not a career path she would choose to remain in, singing is what she has expressed to be her passion. It definitely shows when she sings and expresses each and every verse.
She was recently auditioning on The Voice. Not only was it a stunning performance but came as a surprise to many viewers as well. After her performance and as soon as she had stated she was a child actress then revealing what movie she starred in, you could just feel what the judges must have been thinking. It was as if to say, “Where have you been? It is not only good but awesome to hear you sing again. We remember you fondly.”
When I watched her performance, I had the usual tingly sensation running up, down, and throughout my skin when you hear awesomeness at its finest. Watching and listening to her after all these years, was definitely an outstanding experience. As I watched it made me think just how grown up she is now. Hearing her sing, made me observe how she still “has it” but now with singing skills she has definitely honed. I believe I watched her performance several times and even reminded my friends about the former child actress as I told them the story of her current “dazzle in the limelight” on The Voice.
