There is a time for everything, so goes a portion of Biblical scripture particularly in the book of Ecclesiastes. And I think that is true for someone who also loves music.
For a music lover, there is a time to listen to different musical genres, not just for the ones you are always exposed to or prefer to listen to. And so from time to time, I make it a point to listen to as many genres as possible. This expands my "musical world and tastes" and many times, doing so also makes way for me to enjoy music more.
Bluegrass music is one genre that I am just getting to know. Sure, I have friends who talk about it and KNOW about it. But I simply consider myself, a newbie in this one. This brings me to the point that like food tastes, I propose, we also take time appreciate musical genres. Constant exposure can and may eventually mean (although, this is not true all the time) one appreciating and then liking a particular genre. So back to my "getting to know" now of bluegrass music. I've listened to this album and find out that after a brief time of just experimentally tasting Volume 1, I actually find myself beginning to enjoy this :)
The 2nd track Angels We Have Heard on High and 3rd one Deck the Halls here are too festive to resist. They embody the celebratory air that comes with Christmas time. It is the same with Joy to the World and Go Tell It on the Mountain. And I especially love the playfulness of Frosty the Snowman. The fun that comes with the season is distinctly captured in this Bluegrass version.
The last song of the album,I think, is a very lovely version of the Christmas classinc piece, We Wish You a Merry Christmas. This album has selections which were a definite pleasure for me. But I think for those of you who enjoy bluegrass and country music (bluegrass is a subgenre of country music), you will find this album quite interesting to listen to this season.
