It's Time For You To Meet NervoChaos

Twenty years of existence and hard work did not bring considerable global popularity to the Brazilian metal band from Sao Paolo called NervoChaos. At least not in wider metal circles. In this timeframe, they have released seven full length studio albums, including the current one Nyctophillia. The term means kissing the darkness.

The name of the album suits the description of the album. Here we are dealing with extremely dark record in almost every possible aspect – the sound, the ambient, production, the lyrics, music structure. Every facet converged into an obscure darkness. As I have been listening to their previous works, I must note that this might be their most morbid and most eerie record yet.

For those who are into this type of music, these are all positive and attractive properties. Aggressive, intense and chaotic release with occult lyrics is the zenith of the intersection of death metal and black metal. The elements of hardcore, thrash and doom are also to be found throughout the album.

Funeral deathgrowl singing style, emphasized guitar distortions, repetitive and aggressive drumming in combination with rage and satanic lyrics create an extremely dark atmosphere. Everything sounds like it has been pull out of the deepest depths of abyss. Screaming vocals are typical characteristic of death and black metal, and here we see them in meticulous sync.

There is also a lot of heavy\thrash riffs, hardcore chaos and doom despair, especially in a track Live Like Suicide that incorporates ritual narrations into its core. These narrations accentuate drama and horror, just as in Season Of The Which, a song that combines middle tempo and haste tempo with primary mix of black and death.

The diversity of the tempo that does not keep up with a strict regimen is the main trait of the majority of the songs that offer a powerful dose on energy. Moloch Rise is brutal, Ritualistic is blastbeat beast, while Ad Majorem Satanae Gloriam is a melodic, memorable song with heavy\ thrash \ death \ black schemes and courageous bass sections.

Final verdict: If you are a fan of ultra extreme dark and painful metal, this is a record for you. These guys deserve more attention from the metal scene.
