Harvey Milk are a legendary American sludge/stoner/doom metal band from Georgia. They have released an array of great albums that pack some of the finest slow paced sludge and doom metal in a stoner metal coating. While Harvey Milk have many great albums, then my personal favorite among these albums is ''Life...The Best Game In Town''. An album that was released back in 2008.
The first track on this fine album is titled ''Death Goes To The Winner'' and it packs some astounding slow paced sludge with some very distinct Harvey Milk vocals and some fine sections of noise-rock infused stoner metal distortion. Easily taking its place among some of the best Harvey Milk tracks of all time. The second track ''Decades'' again puts forward some really catchy slow paced stoner metal riffage along with a fine guitar solo with a southern metal vibe. The third track offers some more fast paced sludge, while finishing off with some drone sounds. The fourth track ''Skull Socks & Rope Shoes'' offers some heavy slow sludge riffage and a fine stoner metal solo in a distinct southern metal feel. A track titled ''Motown'' offers a more mellow side of Harvey Milk, but manages to do this in an amazingly catchy and memorable way, while ''Barn Burner'' puts forth some fast paced stoner metal in an almost Church of Misery kind of feel. The album is finished off by a couple of epic slow stoner metal/sludge tracks. Both ''Roses'' and ''Goodbye Blues'' are one of Harvey Milk's masterpieces.
Anyone out there looking for some fine sludge/stoner/doom metal with a more interesting twist will definitely like Harvey Milk. This band is not the usual conventional boring sludge or stoner metal band, but offers some truly unique sounds. Be sure to check them out.
