Atomikylä - Keräily

Atomikylä is a pretty interesting Finnish psychedelic stoner metal band. Their latest three track album is titled ''Keräily'' and it packs a mixture of psychedelic stoner metal, stoner doom and somewhat sludgy psych with a prog feel. In general it is quite difficult to define the genre of this particular Finnish band since they tend to dwell on the borders of many. The growling vocals also tend ot have a pretty clear stoner metal feel to it. Perhaps reminding the Finnish psychedelic black metal band Oranssi Pazuzu.

The first track on this album is a rather short 17 minute long ''Katkos'', which packs some darkened and Oranssi Pazuzu'esque sludgy stoner doom or stoner psychedelia. The track seems to me like a krautrockish doom track with some darkened prog feel to it. Yet it could also be referred to as some darkened sludgy stoner psychedelia. Whatever the case may be the track is quite massive and would be a great soundtrack to Finnish troops wacking some Soviet ones in a ''motti'' during the Winter War. The second track ''Risteily'' has somewhat of an Aluk Todolo-like feel to it, while again also reminding Oranssi Pazuzu as well. The track is definitely my personal favorite from this album as it packs some Aluk Todolo like blackened kraut repetition and then moves to a massiva yet catchy psychedelic jam in the vein of Fire!, only to then move into some sort of blackened humpa, only to move into a far-out psychedelic outro. The last track ''Pakoputki'' sounds even more like Oranssi Pazuzu to me, and essentially packs some psychedelic stoner sludge, offering some fine repetition in the first half of the song, and then moving into some heavier psyched out sludge or stoner doom.

All in all ''Keräily'' is a pretty massive psychedelic stoner metal album that packs a variety of different influences from blackened psych to stoner doom. The album hardly ever gets boring and always tends to have some surprise just around the corner. An album definitely worth checking out.
