Volbeat, If Elvis & Rockabilly were played by a Heavier & Faster Metallica / Volumen Og Beat (Part 1)

So, what does one get when they cross the following: Elvis, Rockabilly, and a heavier type of Thrash Metal than Metallica? Well, Volbeat would perhaps be the closest group I can think of. These Danes have been Rocking in a heavy fashion since 2001. This is a band that I was introduced to around 2008 or so, by a song called "Devil or The Blue Cat's Song." I believe my friend (and past guitarist / vocalist) had heard the song on the Metal Music Choice TV channel. Despite the band having radioplay in the U.S. they do not seem to be getting the recognition they might deserve.

Where did Volbeat start? Well, first there was a band called Dominus from Rinstead Denmark. (May do a separate article on them later.) The band had put out 4 albums and some singles along with demos of course, but one of their albums was called Vol.Beat and had a more "Groove Metal" vibe to it and coincidentally the album cover was yellow and black, (perhaps this is another reason that the band uses these colors very often.) this is most likely where the band we know got its name. The group played a mix of "Death/Death'N'Roll/Groove/Metal/Thrash" which the newer incarnation seems to be a large blend of this in a single song, rather than just an album.

But, back to Volbeat; The first work that group put out was a self-titled demo, Volbeat. Many collectors search for this album, so much so that there have been bootlegs or fake versions that have been sold.

Their next demo was called Beat The Meat and has a number of songs that would later be used in their first full-length album.

Then their first album was released called, The Strength / The Sound / The Songs. There are various versions of the album, most of which are in the vinyl version, there is a misprint version and then there is a limited edition picture disc version.

Now in a strange twist, this next sentence relates this great band to Pokémon. Yes, there is one of those with the same name as the band. But, one can "draw the conclusion" (see what I did there) that the band is a bit "cooler" but that is opinion. But, the question is would the band use this as a logo? Well, if Volbeat have as good a sense of humor as they seem to have, then it might be possible. Just add a cigarette, leather jacket, and some shades and perhaps the band could make anything cooler.

Volbeat the Pokémon.. yes it exists..

But, keep an eye on Volbeat (the band) as they are picking up momentum in popularity and do not appear to be slowing down in playing live shows, nor in releasing music.
