Karma To Burn - Mountain Czar

The renowned American stoner metal/stoner rock band Karma To Burn came out with a new five track EP in February. The new EP essentially follows the usual no-nonsense heavy stoner riffage approach of all previous Karma To Burn albums. While Karma To Burn has always been a mostly instrumental stoner metal/stoner rock band, then this album also features songs with vocals on them. The heavy stoner riffage however remains as the core of this great band.

The first track on this rather heavy EP is titled ''Sixty-two'' and feels pretty much like the Karma To Burn of early years. Namely it reminds albums like ''Wild Wonderful Purgatory'' and ''Almost Heathen''. The same can essentially be said about the second track titled ''Sixty-one'' and third track ''Sixty''. These instrumental tracks all pack some fine sludgy stoner metal/rock riffage. Something that has become almost synonymous to Karma To Burn ever since they started off back in the 90s. The fourth track however features some female vocals and is titled ''Uccidendo Un Sogno'', and reminds me various Chilean stoner rock bands. Most notably bands like Hielo Negro. The last track on this album is titled ''Sixty-Three'' and again features some fine stoner heavyness and an especially catchy riff in the second part of the track.

All in all this is a pretty solid EP from Karma To Burn, and reminds in parts the Karma To Burn of early years. This is of course an entirely welcome thing. Anyone who digs Karma To Burn should find this EP much to their liking, as it is pretty much the usual stoner heavyness that you would expect from these renowned instrumental stoner metal legends.
