Turn It Up

As an angsty teenager I fit the mould of being really pissed off for no good reason and Lamb of God were the first band that I really connected with and really the ones I have to thank for getting me into music. Sure I used to like Radiohead and John Butler etc. before then, but they were really background music for me. (I've since seen both live and this is no longer the case)

I got this record from a friend; having no idea what it was I played it. For the next few months I played it every day, and not while tidying my room or texting girls and other things teenage boys do - I listened to it as an activity in and of itself. I make the effort to do that now with new music, and things I feel like I should listen to, and sometimes I find myself listening for the sake of it to stuff like Bjork's Debut, but Ashes of the Wake was the first album I listened to from start to finish and immersed myself in it. Nowadays I don't get old Lamb out much, but I never forget that this album, and the songs Now You've Got Something to Die For and What I've Become probably made me a musician rather than some other 'profession'.
