Khalid Named Best New Artist at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards

Last Sunday, August 27 at the Great Western Forum in California, USA, the MTV VMAS Awards were held, which was a great night full of awards and many surprises.

The singer from El Paso, Texas, attended the ceremony where with such a short career time he won his first VMA as Best New Artist, competing in this category against singer-songwriter Julia Michaels; the rapper Kodak Black; Miley's sister, Noah Cyrus; the singer of R & B SZA; And New York rapper Young MA

"I have to thank the city of El Paso for being behind me.This is not just for me, this is for the city," Khalid said after accepting his award, "Moon Man." He also thanked his mother already their fans for their support.

"I can not believe I won, thank you very much for having supported me so much! This is the beginning of something big!" Khalid said on Twitter after a great look of astonishment.

The 19-year-old singer also performed live on the VMA pre-show with his platinum song "Location" and "Young Dumb And Broke." The singer told "El Paso Times" magazine in an interview that he fell in love with the city of El Paso, his teachers and his friends and much of his album, "American Teen", was inspired by his experiences there.

Hopefully this recognition is as the singer said, the beginning of something great. Khalid's album, "American Teen," is now available on all digital platforms.
