Hollywood paid tribute to Charles Aznavour: The legendary composer and singer finally received, at age 93, his star on the prestigious Walk of Fame, where his name now shines among a constellation of other celebrities.
"I am French and Armenian, both inseparable like milk and coffee. It is fantastic to have two cultures," Aznavour declared in English, shouting "Bravo!" And Viva France! On Hollywood Boulevard.
"French is my working language but my native language is always Armenian," he added, to the applause of a crowd of about 200 admirers and guests in front of the atrium of the Pantages Theater, dedicated to musicals and where the star was placed. Also an actor, who wore a blue suit and wore dark glasses.
With this recognition, "I can say that I am now a little Californian," added the artist, whose daughter and grandchildren reside in the city.
"I'm an admirer, but it's mainly because of my parents that I'm here to send them pictures. He's a great singer," said Jean Hode, a 38-year-old man who moved to Los Angeles from Benin.
