Keith Richards said that "very, very soon" the Rolling Stones will record "new material" and although he did not explain what kind of music it will be, he stated that it will not be a volume II of Blue & Lonesome , his last album of blues versions. This was announced by the Stones guitarist in a brief statement during his web question-and-answer series for his fans called Ask Keith Richards .

"Are you inspired to go back to a studio with the Stones and record?" Was the question that Richards answered in a video uploaded to his official Youtube channel. "Yes, yes, we are and indeed very, very soon we will record new material and we will have to think where that takes us later," said the musician, 73 years old.

In this regard, he explained that the success of Blue & Lonesome , the album they released in December 2016, which was their first studio work in a decade and contained only versions, took them a bit by surprise. "We thought it was something we had to do, but we did not expect the response."

A success that led them to think of an inevitable volume 2. "I do not think we're going to get into that immediately, though it would not be necessary for us to twist our arm to do more of that. Get out, "he added.

"I just think the Stones have used it as an energy boost on the issue of viability at this time and at this age to see what we could do next," he concluded.

Richards' remarks come after earlier this month, British rapper Skepta posted a picture on Instagram featuring Mick Jagger in a recording studio, giving no further details.
