"The Story of OJ" is a new song composed by American rap veteran Jay Z, who returned this year with a new album titled "4:44", this album counts as his record number 13 This new issue was released on 30 June under the production of No ID, and is now available on all digital platforms.

The song title refers to OJ Simpson, the former NFL runner who was charged and acquitted of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and his friend Ron Goldman. The trial was called "Trial of the Century" because of the massive amount of public and media attention, as well as the atmosphere of tension that existed between the black community in Los Angeles and the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department). The title of this song also refers to or relates to, "The Story of O" a famous French novel written in 1954, which speaks of domination and submission.

Basically there are many things that Jay Z wanted to convey in this song, because aside from the lyrics created for it, this track also has a small sample of the song "Four Women" by Nina Simone, which tells the story of four women Black women with different skin tones and the struggles they faced. The allusion to the four women Simone stands out in the chorus suggests that regardless of whether one is rich or poor, light-skinned or dark-skinned, darkness is a more relevant marker in a racist society.

Jay Z gave statements about "The Story of OJ" for the iHeart Radio platform, and this is what he said:

"The Story of OJ is really a song about us as culture, having a plan, how we are going to push this forward. We all make money, and for that reason we all lose money, especially as artists. But when you achieve success in some way, how to make it into something bigger. "

The official video of "The Story of OJ" was published by Jay Z's official YouTube account on July 5; The video counts with several performances of animated rapeando the song, and you can see it below:
