Midway through this week, the father of Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr told The West Australian that his son's band was working on their next studio album with nothing more than the assistance of the well-known producer Rick Rubin . However yesterday Albert Jr and Julian Casablancas denied this information in social networks.
In a first publication Hammond comments: "Sorry everyone is not in the recording studio," adding: "Forgive Albert father, I was prematurely excited. A lot of strangers and worthless talking about it at the moment." However, he did not deny that they had talked to Rubin but he said that at times The Strokes did not plan a new long run: "We met and played some musical ideas to feel the vibe, but even a theoretical plan to record an album is Years of being, if at all. "
On the other hand Julian Casablancas vocalist confirmed what was published by Hammond Jr, adding that in fact he is currently working on new material with The Voidz that "will be able to judge publicly soon."
The band's most recent recorded material was Future Present Past, an EP containing three new tracks released in June of last year, 2016.
