The songwriter Carlos Vives presented today "The pride of my country", an authentic ode to the Colombian cyclists that arrives to few days of that stars like Nairo Quintana begin their journey by the Tour de France, that will begin its edition 104 next Saturday in Düsseldorf (Germany).
"A long time ago I wanted to do this song, they teach us that we can live together," wrote Vives in his Twitter account today when he spread the first few bars of this composition.
The lyrics of the song speak of historical Colombian cyclists such as Miguel Samacá, Efraín Forero aka "Zipa", Ramón Hoyos, Martín Emilio Cochise, José Patrocinio Jiménez, Oliverio Cárdenas or Roberto "Pajarito" Buitrago.
As the author of "La bicicleta" explained in several interviews with local media today, this new song seeks to answer the "historical debts" that Colombian composers have with their land.
The song, which has only been heard for a few seconds, has a touch of Andean music and is the third of the new album from the coast, titled "Vives."
